William J. Burman, MD

Dr. William Burman is a physician executive and infectious disease specialist who serves as the Interim CEO of Denver Health. He was at Denver Public Health beginning in 1995, and was the Director there from 2011 until his appointment as the Interim CEO in June 2016. He also served as the president of the Denver Health medical staff.
Dr. Burman directed the HIV care program for more than 10 years and continues to provide HIV care at Denver Public Health. Dr. Burman was previously a researcher in international studies to improve treatment of HIV and tuberculosis, playing a leadership role in the Tuberculosis Trials Consortium (an international multicenter clinical trials group funded by the Centers for Disease Control). He is a professor of medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and epidemiology in the Colorado School of Public Health.
Dr. Burman earned his undergraduate degree from Whitman College and his medical degree from Mayo Medical School.
