Jameson “Jamie” Smith

Jameson “Jamie” Smith started his career in health care as a Medical Service Corps officer in the U.S. Army. He served for two years as the Administrator for the Department of Pediatrics at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. Jamie then spent two years as the medical platoon leader for the 1st Battalion, 9th Cavalry Regiment (First Cavalry Division) at Fort Hood, TX. After getting out of the military, he worked for a brief period in the financial services industry before joining Tenet Healthcare, a for profit hospital operations company. While with Tenet, Jamie served in executive roles with hospitals in Atlanta, GA and North Carolina.
Prior to joining Saint Joseph Hospital as President in November 2015, Jamie spent eight years with Penrose-St. Francis Health Services in Colorado Springs, part of the Centura Health system. The last four years he was Chief Administrative Officer/Senior Vice President with responsibility for the Colorado Springs market including two hospitals, multiple ambulatory centers and several hospital-physician joint ventures.
Jamie is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). He earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Austin, and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. He completed Basic Officer Leadership from the U.S. Army Medical Department in 1994. He served as Board Chair of Community Health Partnership from 2013-2015, and is a board member of Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care.
