Chad Christianson

President and CEO, HCA Healthcare, Continental Division

Chad Christianson became the President of the HCA Healthcare Continental Division on January 1, 2023.

As president of the division, which includes the HealthONE healthcare system in Denver and the Wesley Healthcare system in Wichita, Chad oversees 9 acute care hospitals, one rehabilitation hospital, two pediatric hospitals, a behavioral health and wellness campus and programs, multiple freestanding emergency departments, numerous ambulatory surgery centers, plus dozens of physician practices and urgent care clinics that are part of our division.

The combined HealthONE and Wesley Healthcare systems employ more than 14,000 dedicated colleagues and are trusted with more than 1.5 million patient encounters annually. Notably, the HCA Healthcare Continental Division was recognized two consecutive years as an IBM Watson Health Top 5 Large Health System in the country for exceptional clinical quality, patient experience and operational excellence.

Prior to becoming President of the Continental Division, Chad was the Chief Executive Officer of HCA Florida Ocala Health System. Ocala Health System comprises HCA Florida Ocala and West Marion Hospitals, three freestanding ERs, 70 employed providers and several specialty practices.

Prior to his time in Ocala, Chad served as the Chief Operating Officer of HCA Healthcare’s CJW Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia and was the Chief Operating Officer of West Houston Medical Center in Houston, Texas.

Chad earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Florida and his Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Health Administration degrees from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is originally from Florida and he and his wife, Ansley, have three boys. They are outdoor enthusiasts and enjoy playing sports and attending sporting events.
