Hassan Salem is president of U.S. Bank in Colorado and regional head of commercial banking for Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Wisconsin, Michigan and Chicago.
A career-long veteran of U.S. Bank, he is responsible for developing client relationships and helping mid-size companies work toward their goals. Salem leads the bank’s cross-functional Denver market leadership committee and chairs U.S. Bank’s local advisory board, which is comprised of respected business and community leaders from the Denver metropolitan area. He serves on the U.S. Bank Diversity and Inclusion Council and the U.S. Bancorp Political Action Committee (PAC).
Salem’s 28-year banking career began with Colorado National Bank (a U.S. Bank predecessor company), after he graduated from college. He earned increasing levels of responsibility in the Consumer and Business Banking and Corporate and Commercial Banking divisions, and today he is a senior vice president and division manager in Corporate & Commercial Banking. Salem’s group provides a range of U.S. Bank products and services to mid-size companies – those with annual sales between $10 million and $500 million. He is well-known and respected as one of the ski industry’s leading lenders, and he oversees the bank’s national gaming business based in Las Vegas.
Salem is a member of the executive committee of Colorado Succeeds, which focuses on workforce readiness through education. He also serves as chair of the development committee and capital campaign for the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. In addition, he’s a board member for the National Jewish Health Council of National Trustees, Delta Dental of Colorado and the Colorado Bankers Association, as well as the Young Presidents’ Organization and Colorado Concern. Salem is a graduate of the 2004 Leadership Denver program for influential business area leaders. He served as co-chair of the Transition Committee for Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA), under the leadership of former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper. He is a board trustee for the Denver Area Council of Boy Scouts of America and serves on the leadership council of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver.
Salem served on the executive committee for the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, and he’s a former board chairman for the chamber. During his tenure as chairman, the chamber successfully advocated for state legislation that strengthened K-12 education through new the READ Act.
Salem earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and economics from the University of Arizona, with minors in communications and political science.
