Mark Sexton is the Chairman & CEO of Evergreen Natural Resources LLC (ENR), a private-equity funded natural gas producer, headquartered in Denver, with principal operations in southern Colorado. ENR’s capital providers are experienced energy investors located in Colorado, New York and Connecticut, the largest of which is Yorktown Partners. ENR’s unique vertically integrated business model allows for cost-efficient operations and production improvements, even in periods of commodity price volatility. As the largest private employer in Las Animas County, ENR is dedicated to improving the quality of life and the economy in southern Colorado, at the same time prioritizing environmentally responsible development. Strong community and landowner relations are a hallmark of ENR’s operating practices.
Mark has more than 40 years of experience in the energy industry, serving previously as President and CEO of several energy extraction companies, including Inflection Energy LLC and Evergreen Resources Inc. That previous Evergreen entity grew from $2 million in 1989 to an enterprise value of $2.1 billion in a merger with Pioneer Natural Resources in 2004.
Mark graduated from Stanford University in 1978 with a B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked summers in Yosemite, and after college he joined the energy business so he could have a few Alaskan adventures, including climbing Denali. Mark lives in the Evergreen area, and appreciates the Colorado outdoor lifestyle, especially climbing, hiking, and skiing. Mark also enjoys spiritual adventure travel when he can get away.
