Marshall Burton serves as president and chief executive officer of Confluent Development and, in partnership with the Board, is responsible for the success of the organization. Marshall assures the accomplishment of Confluent Development’s mission and vision, its relevance to the community, and the accountability of the organization to its diverse constituents. Specifically, Marshall ensures Confluent Development’s fiscal, operations, marketing, human resources, technology and programmatic strategies are effectively implemented across all segments of the organization.
Marshall Burton has more than 20 years and nearly $2 billion in development experience across all major product types throughout the United States. He co-founded Confluent Development with Celeste Tanner in 2014, immediately growing the organization through securing approximately $150 million in ground-up development work on a build-to-suit and speculative basis. Prior to establishing Confluent Development, Marshall served as executive vice president for Opus Development Company, where he led the company’s operations in the western region and oversaw the growth of the company’s Denver office to an annual average revenue of nearly $100 million. While at Opus, he also oversaw the regional organization with offices in Washington, D.C., Boston and Philadelphia.
Marshall is a board member of Industrial Property Trust, a leading industrial REIT with more than 20 million square feet owned throughout the United States. He also served as a board member of Industrial Income Trust, which successfully completed its sale to Global Logistic Properties for more than $5 billion in 2015. Marshall also serves on the Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation’s Corporate Leadership Council (CLC), comprised of corporate leaders across the community who help to advance Children Hospital Colorado’s mission through philanthropy. Marshall is also member of Colorado Concern, an alliance of the state’s leading executives committed to enhancing Colorado’s business climate.
