Matthew Burkett is an investor and philanthropist with a proven track record for unlocking value in underutilized opportunities that result in growing wealth, increasing balance and giving back.
Burkett is the founder, Chairman and CEO of The Flyfisher Group, a capital, consulting and holding company that specializes in growing sustainable assets. As Chairman and CEO, Burkett directs the Flyfisher Group’s investment strategy and decisions, firm governance and investor relations.
Burkett has held a number of operating and advisory roles, including Chairman, Director, CEO, President, and Managing Principal of The Flyfisher Capital Group’s portfolio companies. A serial entrepreneur, he is committed to helping other entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial businesses become successful organizations with enduring long-term value. Burkett has founded more than ten companies in his twenty-year career and personally invested in over twenty small businesses. His latest is a technology SaaS company, building analytics tools to help small companies have real-time command and control of their data and daily operations so they can operate more like big businesses. Burkett’s mission is to identify, acquire, position and grow underutilized opportunities into prosperous assets. Burkett’s previous experience includes service as a congressional and regulatory lobbyist with WIA – The Wireless Infrastructure Association in Washington, DC (formerly PCIA) and an Analyst at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Denver (Coopers and Lybrand merged with PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1998).
He holds two BA degrees from Oberlin College in English Literature and Creative Writing. A passionate philanthropist, Burkett serves his communities through The Burkett Family Foundation and Lincoln Hills Cares – enriching the lives of families, young people and the elderly. Burkett currently serves on the Board of Trustees at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. He is a member of Colorado Forum and is a participant of the Downtown Denver Partnership’s Leadership Program.
