Michelle Lyng

CEO, Novitas Communication

Whether steering clients through international systemic collapses, kidnappings and scandal, or a crisis unimagined, Michelle Balch Lyng is Colorado’s go-to communications professional, always challenging the status quo. Michelle is the founder and CEO of Novitas Communications, an award-winning, full-service public relations firm based in Denver. She founded Novitas Communication, Inc. during the Great Recession of 2008 and it quickly became best known for its work in issue management, corporate communication and crisis communication in highly regulated industries such as education, insurance oil and gas, real estate, technology, healthcare and financial services. Novitas is a full-service public relations firm that focuses on providing the best services to our clients, building and maintaining solid relationships with the media throughout the Rocky Mountain region and beyond, and living by the motto that we always “work hard, play harder” in order to get the most out of life.

She has over 24 years’ experience in strategic communications and reputation management, executive positioning, community engagement, issue management, corporate communication, and crisis communication. She advises a wide range of clients from Fortune 100 companies experiencing significant change to start-up organizations on responding proactively and reactively to media and communicate to stakeholders. She has helped implement organization-wide communications strategies to uphold reputations when the stakes were highest, and secured media coverage for her clients in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Reuters, USAToday, Washington Post, CNBC, CNN, MSNBC, FOX News, among many other national and local media outlets.

Prior to founding Novitas, Michelle worked at Edelman, APCO, and what’s now known as Finsbury Glover Hering. She brings the best practices learned at the world’s top agencies to Novitas and its work in the Rocky Mountain West region.

Michelle lives in Castle Pines Village with her husband, Benjamin; her two energetic children, Andrew and Caroline; her lazy dog, Buckley; her resentful bunny, Harriet; and two skittish koi fish, Brooks and Cal. Her hobbies include throwing over-the-top themed birthday parties for her children, watching TikTok videos, and fly fishing.
